Studies in Documentary Film 3.1 dedicated to Joris Ivens

Studies in Documentary Film is the first international scholarly journal devoted to the history, theory, criticism and practice of documentary film. Studies in Documentary Film nr. 3.1 contains several articals on Ivens.
Amsterdam University Press released a book about the first film animator Arthur Melbourne-Cooper They Thought it was a Marvel!by Tjitte de Vries en Ati Mul Theusday. In their speech the autors payed their honour to Jan de Vaal (1922-2001) founder and head of the Dutch Filmmuseum during the first 40 years.
The award for Best Film program 2009 goes to the Joris Ivens retrospective in Leipzig

The Bundesarchiv-Filmarchiv in Berlin received the award from the DEFA-Stiftung for the retrospective that they held during the DOK Leipzig filmfestival. The award was given to Wolfgang Klaue for his enormous contribution as beholder of German film history in his function as President of the FIAF and head of the Staatlichen Filmarchivs der DDR.

`Joris Ivens` is a catalogue from the Ivens retrospective in New Caledonia. It’s a nice booklet about his life and work with an interesting personal view on the importance of documentary by the author Jean-Francois Corrat.
