Finishing the inventory of the Joris Ivens Archives and its opening up with the list of contents was last years theme. The old provisional place numbers have been replaced by definitive inventory numbers as they can be found in the list of contents. All the old folders have been renumbered and the material has been put in new folders and boxes. As a result everything is put in the right order according to the list of contents, also in the depot of the Municipal Archives Nijmegen and what one is looking for is easy to find. The Archives can be consulted through the reading-room of the Municipal Archives.
The translation of the inventory in English has been finished and is available so that foreign researchers can consult the archives without any problem. The English list will also be put on our website so that even on the other side of the world they can see if there are items in the Joris Ivens Archives relevant to the research they are carrying out.
Of the newly acquired collections provisional placing lists have been made. The first collection to be inventoried is the Hans Wegner Collection, an extensive collection containing a great deal of valuable material.
Apart from the work on the inventory a start will soon be made of digitalising all photographs (over 11,000) on the modern scanning equipment of the Municipal Archives. Work on restoring the posters is going on as planned.
