Since Saturday, the 2nd of June is Manifesta 9 officially open for the audience. The film ‘Borinage’ of Joris Ivens and Henri Storck, in which they have filmed the life of the Belgian mineworkers, will also be screened. The work of Erik van Lieshout, wich is inspired by the film ‘Borinage’, will beexhibited as well.
Manifesta is a travelling platform for visual art. It focuses at the dialogue between art and society in Europe. Manifesta is one of the leading art events of Europe. The ninth edition takes place in Genk, the Region of Limburg in Belgium and examines the social impact of the recent mining-history in Limburg. For the first time in history, Manifesta won’t show just leading, modern art but also a collection of historical art. The film ‘Borinage’ of Joris Ivens and Henri Storck, in which they have filmed the life of the Belgian mineworkers, will also be screened.
