The disputed part of the Joris Ivens Archives was transferred for drawing up an inventory from the State record Office at Lelystad to the European Foundation Joris Ivens at the beginning of September 1996. The listing of the first (undisputed) part had been completed in the summer, so that the drawing up of the second part fitted in nicely. Brigit began describing the clippings and photo collection, while Kees undertook the inventory of the records, and the electronic opening up. In March 1997 a provisional catalogue could be made of the inventory of the Joris Ivens Archives. In June all photos and clippings were catalogued and could all the files be consulted on the computer.
At the moment other sections of the inventory are opened up. These openings and classifying of the other parts of the collection will lead to the completion of the definitive catalogue of the Joris Ivens Archives at about the summer of 1998.
This does not mean that the work will be done then, on the contrary. Apart from the opening up of more sections of the Joris Ivens Archives the work will particularly be directed towards the inventory of the other collections which have been or are going
to be deposited with the Fondation. The collection Miep Balgerie Gu?rin and the collection Hans Ivens are awaiting inventory, and in the mean time parts of the collections Marion Michelle and Marceline Loridan-Ivens are in Nijmegen (see elsewhere). The active acquisitions policy of the Foundation will guarantee sufficient work. In consultation with Wim Meeuwissen (director of the Municipal Archives of Nijmegen) a restoration scheme for the posters and a plan for digitalizing and preserving the archives will be drawn up.
